It is time to empower women to achieve their leadership potential
in emergency medicine.

OUR GOALS INCLUDE:

Recruit, retain and promote the women faculty in our department to positions of academic leadership.

  • Seek opportunities for women to obtain leadership training. This includes national events like the Association of American Medical Colleges’ women faculty leadership development seminars and sponsorship of five faculty and five residents annually to attend the FemInEM conference as well as local programs.

  • Educate the entire department on unconscious bias and increase awareness of gender issues.

  • Create connections with leaders in the community to provide mentorship and support.

  • Raise $1 million by 2022 to establish the UC EMPOWER Endowed Chair in Emergency Medicine. The Department of Emergency Medicine has provided an institutional investment to support this effort.
